Today we are excited to announce the addition of AI to the Bristol Excel Meetup Group.

What is the Bristol Excel Meetup Group?

We set up the Bristol Excel Meetup for anyone based in the South West of England who is interested in learning about Excel, reporting, and financial modelling, whatever your role and level of experience using Excel.

Our aim has always been simple: to provide a friendly community where people can learn, share ideas, develop their skills and connect with like-minded professionals.

What is changing and why?

We are expanding the scope of the group to include AI-focused content and events.

AI is one of the most talked-about technologies in business today and is rapidly changing the way people analyse data, automate tasks, build reports and make decisions. Whether it's Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT or other AI tools, these technologies are becoming an increasingly important part of the modern professional toolkit.

As a community dedicated to helping people get the most from Excel and related technologies, we believe it is important to help our members understand not only what AI can do, but how it can work alongside Excel to improve productivity and unlock new possibilities.

How often does the group meet?

We continue to meet quarterly in Bristol, giving members the opportunity to learn from expert speakers, network with fellow professionals and catch up over a drink or two.

In addition, we will be introducing monthly virtual AI sessions via Zoom during the months where there is no in-person meetup. These sessions will provide practical demonstrations, discussions and opportunities to explore the rapidly evolving world of AI.

What is the next session about?

In our next session on 4th June I will be talking about 5 Practical AI Use Cases for Finance Professionals.

In this live virtual session, I'll cut through the noise around AI in finance and share their top 5 practical AI use cases for finance professionals. I’ll focus on where AI fits within operational finance, what it can realistically help with, and how finance teams can start using it in a practical way.

We’ll then be joined by Jacques from ToTheMoon, who will demonstrate Claude working with Xero on these core finance activities.

You can register for the event here.

How can I find out more?

We're excited about this next chapter for the community and hope you'll join us as we explore the opportunities that AI brings alongside the Excel skills we know and love.

The Bristol Excel Meet up is a free meetup group run by Myles Arnott of Full Stack Modeller and Kate Clarke of Artemis Clarke.
