12ft Ladder claims to be able to bypass most paywalls by serving up the google cached version of web pages. I’ve tried it with mixed success. Worked well on the Economist. Didn’t work at all on the FT.
“Show me a 10ft paywall, I’ll show you a 12ft ladder.” Great strapline.

Chris Dixon was on a recent episode of the az16 podcast talking about Full Stack Start-ups. He wrote this blog post a while back about the move to Full Stack startups; companies who create a complete, end-to-end product or service that bypasses existing companies. It’s a useful concept to better understand and dissect the business models of many of the recent tech unicorns.

Grammarly has become my most used app (after Excel of course). I now write everything in Grammarly first. It corrects my spelling, improves my grammar, and continually reminds me to stop writing in the passive voice. It can’t be recommended highly enough.
