Earlier this week I posted about how you can use a Chart Template in Excel to save time every time you create a chart. See the article here.
Whilst I was creating the video I thought it would be interesting to compare this approach to using Copilot in Excel.

Absolutely, Copilot did a great job of tidying the chart and running through the steps that I requested.
Which is better?
Team Copilot
Copilot got the job done, as requested in around a minute.
Working with charts, and applying a standard design can be tricky for inexperienced users. This is an extremely accessible way to update your charts to the required layout.
The prompt was created by Copilot itself and could easily be saved down, reused and shared across team members.
Team Template
Once set up the chart template has been set up it is incredibly easy to select and is applied as the chart is created.
It is very easy to share chart templates across a team.
Simple, efficient and always the same.
The Copilot solution takes about a minute to run, and will need reviewing each time it is run.
Closing thoughts
In this example, the deterministic template is the clear winner.
Its always going to be accurate and the same each time. It is quicker and it doesn't cost extra money or run data through a data center.
